New nodes popping up in an existing FTTN area??

Posted 22nd Jun

I live in an area where we have FTTN and have had for a few years now.

Recently, in the last few weeks, I've noticed more than the usual NBN contractor activity in the area, such as contractors running new fibre and what appears to be smaller versions of the NBN node cabinets (perhaps half the size) dotted around the place.

Does anyone have any information what NBN Co. might be doing? Might they actually be fixing/upgrading existing FTTN services to connect to a closer node or even doing what they should have done in the first place and running fibre?

I'm on over 1000 metres of copper and get about 40/10 Mbps, which is pretty piss poor for 2020 (yes I know, there are people doing it far worse than me). If this is indeed a new node, it would put me about 100-150 metres away from it.
