2018 Evans & Tate Metricup Road Cabernet Merlot

In our recent Cabernet collection tasting, this Evans & Tate red was the standout wine, winning our hearts even amongst more highly fancied wines from all over the country (there was even a 96 points bandied about). A big part of this wine's success is the influence of Deep Woods' Julian Langworthy, who has been mentoring and working side by side with the team at Evans & Tate, including the super talented vigneron John Fogarty and winemaker Matt Byrne, and the rise in Evans & Tate's fortune ever since has been remarkable. So where does it come from? Well, Metricup Road runs alongside Evans & Tate's Margaret River vineyard, located in the middle of prime vineyard land north of the township. This is real Cabernet country, and no wonder that it translates into a classic, classy, medium bodied red. It's savoury and dry, yet with this lovely flourish of cedary blackberry too. A delicious Margaret River red in the most traditional mode, with flavour tannins and personality.
