Yarra Valley may not be most well known for Shiraz, but a few expressions are popping up that are causing critics and sommeliers to sit up and take notice. One producer at the forefront of this is Yeringberg, a pioneer of the Valley’s wine industry. Their 2018 Shiraz (3% Viognier in the mix) is a spicy and savoury cool-climate style of Shiraz. A beautifully perfumed wine (thanks in part to that splash of Viognier), this is a wine that demonstrates the potential of the Yarra as a premium destination for Shiraz.
